18. The Project of Producing Thick Quartz Glass Tubes with Large Caliber Applied to Integrate Circuit

1. Background and Significance of the Project

The production of quartz glass tubes with large caliber applied to integrate circuit is weak in national quartz glass industry. The specification and quality are poor. Especially the thick tubes with large caliber mainly depend on imports. Donhai County is the base for producing quartz glass tubes, with 18000 ton output annually, constituting above 80% of the national total, around 50% of the world total. However, thick quartz glass tubes with large caliber applied to integrate circuit are not produced. And quartz glass tubes with small caliber applied to ordinary lighting have a poor productive profit and economic benefits. While thick quartz glass tubes with large caliber applied to integrate circuit are the production with high additional value, apparent economic and social benefits.

Since 2003, our company has studied the thick tubes with large caliber. At present, thick tubes with 80mm diameter, 4mm depth can be produced in small scale. However, taking one with another, the problems of purity, bearing temperature, dimension tolerance, air bladder, air line, etc are still waiting for solving. If the problems are solved, a great deal of foreign exchange can be saved, which will have an urgent and practical significance for the development of our national industry of integrate circuit.

According to statistics from professional committee of national quartz glass, the production value of national information industry in 2003 reached 1,350,000,000,000 yuan, increased by 27% compared with last year. High quality integrate circuit mainly depended on imports, with 105,000,000,000 import value. The experts forecast the market that the production value of national integrate circuit can reach 210,000,000,000 yuan, increase by 10 times than that in 2001. Different kinds of high quality materials of quartz glass need applied gradually in the process, especially for the new materials of transparent quartz glass tubes with large caliber with about 1,000,000,000 yuan value. Therefore, this project has a vast potential market.

3. Assessment of Project Investments, Scale and Period of Project Constructions

The total investment of the project reaches 12,000,000 yuan, mainly applied to the workshop constructions, equipment purchase and technology research and development.

The period of project constructions will last 2 years. The production scale can reach 200 ton per year thick quartz glass tubes with large caliber after the completion of the project.
